New Year's Resolutions for Families!✨

Updated: Nov 3, 2023

We often walk into a new year with big, lofty goals and insist, "this is the year I'm sure to keep them all!" And the weeks go by, and the resolutions get harder and harder to keep up with. Well not this year! We've put together a list of resolutions that your family is sure to sustain all year long. They're easy, simple, and you're probably doing half of them at home already!

  1. Screen Free Days 🚫📱 - Nowadays, we spend so much time on technology, both for business and entertainment. It's important for the entire family to have uninterrupted time with one another. Set aside one day a month where your family can put away the phones, shut off the TV's, and do something together! Whether it's taking a walk, going to a museum, or cozying up with some books and puzzles.

  2. Expanding Taste Buds 🥑🥘🍣 - Diversity during mealtime plays a major role in your child's overall development and acceptance of new foods. While it's easy and convenient to stick to fan favorites, providing new options helps expose children to new textures, flavors, and reduces fear of new foods down the road. They'll be introduced to brand new sources of nutrition, and you may find a new family favorite! We have a few blogs to provide you inspiration in the kitchen so be sure to check them out.

  3. Reading 📚 - Reading is so essential to your little ones growth, especially at an early age. Whether you have books on your shelves that have been collecting dust, or you are looking for an excuse to splurge on some new ones, set aside time each day to read with your little one. It can be a part of your morning/evening routine, or just something you do to break up the day! Your local library may also have special programming like story time and other books to check out.

  4. Go Outside 🌳🌞 - It may seem impossible at times, but getting outside everyday is important for the whole family. Studies have shown that being outside for even a few minutes can help boost your mood and reduce stress. As an added bonus, being outside can open the door for opportunities to teach your kids about the world around them. Don't let the cold weather discourage you from going out - take this opportunity to get bundled up and play in the snow!

  5. Consistent Sleep Schedule 😴 - Children need 10+ hours of sleep (depending on the age) every night to help with their growth and development. Setting a consistent sleep routine is key to ensuring you're getting those hours and to creating a healthy and structured day-to-day routine.

  6. Exercise Together 🧘🏽‍♀️🚶🏼‍♂️💪🏼 - Make exercising together a priority. This can be as simple as doing a few yoga stretches in the living room, or going for a family walk to the park. Introducing your children to a routine of exercise can create healthy habits for a lifetime!
